Shake up your style
I decided to create a title page for my editorial. I used the shot of the strawberry milkshake and then brightened it but making sure the background wasn't too white, as I still want some depth. Then using the font 'Futura' I thought of a name for my editorial 'All Shook Up' and and added the tagline "Shake up your style this season' I wanted to keep it simple so that it was in keeping with AnOther magazine and I think it achieved that as well as linking to my editorial.
Edits
Here are the original images I decided to use and their edited versions. I brightened up the images and changed the vibrance, contrast and saturation. I tried to keep the pastel theme apparent through the shoot but I needed to make sure the colours didn't look to washed out. I am pleased with how they turned out and I now need to figure out how I am going to lay them out for an editorial. I am considering doing a title page as well as an opening for the editorial.
AnOther
The magazine I have chosen for my editorial is AnOther magazine because they well known for studio shoots and I think they display their still life editorials in a very interesting way. Going through AnOther i found the page layouts very peculiar and there seemed to be no real uniformity or constancy to them. Some pages were full bleed where as some where collaged with a few images. Going through some back issues and images I looked at online, AnOther tend to use a slight grey tint on their backgrounds which I feel gives a bit more depth to the photograph rather than using a bright white background,

Example of the mis matched layouts.
I really like how they have portrayed the images in this editorial and I think I am going to do something similar. Although there is a lot of white space it still looks sleek and professional.
Accessory Creation
Here are my accessories. I spray painted them a few times to make sure the colours were bold enough to show up on camera but still fitted into my pastel trend. My next job is going to be finding milkshakes that match each accessory.

Food, Fashion, Colour
Here are two mood boards I have created where I have looked at the colours in the outfits/accessories and found food that incorporates those colours giving you a visual link between the two and aesthetically you can notice the similarities. This links in with my original concept of displaying the accessory and then the food next to it to show the comparison with the colours. As you can see I have focused on 2 collections here instead of trends so that I could show a variety I tried to focus on mainly the accessories as well as including some of the outfits.

Barburrito
Yesterday we went to Manchester to go to a few galleries but to also have a food experience. I decided to go to barburrito and I had nachos. You go in and can choose from a burrito, tacos, and nachos. Then choose what meat/filling you would like and any extras. It's made up in front of you and the price is decided on what filling and extras you had. The portion size is fair and you get your money's worth. I think this new way of fast good is good as you can see what is going into your meal and there is no surprises. Although not exotic this is a different way to dine that seems to be catching on.

Accessories and Food
So my research into food and fashion has lead me to look at still life accessory advertisements that include food. Some of the images below use colour to highlight their product whereas some use it to contrast their product making it stand out. The 'Exotics' double page spread worked well as the colours compliment the products and stand out on the white background. It looks clean and sharp. I also like the shoes on the citrus backgrounds, colour has been used wisely here and it pays off in my opinion.

Food and Fashion
Food and fashion have always gone hand in hand, be it in a positive or a negative way. After Kate Moss famously said "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" she was dropped by Rimmel for promoting an unhealthy image. However Karl Lagerfeld is allowed to get away with saying "Fashion is the healthiest motivation for losing weight".

Food is not only linked to fashion because of body image and size, colour and texture is a huge factor, they compliment items and can also inspire.
I want to look at food and how it interacts with fashion, or how we as people of fashion interact with food. I'll look at literal observations and also let ideas spiral and develop
